Program Outcome 7
Perform technically competent, evidence-based physical therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist.
As part of Keep Stepping, we created an HEP for our clients
based on their functional limitations using evidence from research. This
assignment made us think critically about what exercises would be most helpful
for our patients. It was our responsibility to progress, adjust, and monitor
the exercises as needed. In Professional Issues 2, we did a similar assignment,
choosing a patient from our second rotation and writing up a treatment plan and
interventions based on research. During my Keep Stepping and clinical experiences,
I found that although it's important to have a treatment plan, patients may sometimes
progress more than expected or regress. Being able to tailor treatment to the
patient's individual needs is a critical skill.
