Program Outcome 10

Implement a self-directed plan for career development, credentialing, and lifelong learning.

In Professional Issues 1 and 2, our class explored a variety of legal and ethical issues with discussion boards. Although I haven't faced any of these situations in my clinical experiences, discussing these situations helped me think about what I would do and what the right thing to do would be. As part professional issues 2, we wrote a professional development plan to help direct our future job search. Clinicals gave me the opportunity to ask questions about interventions, documentation, etc. and allowed me to put what I learned into practice, either on a patient or even my CI. After each rotation, we were rated by our clinical instructors and required to write a reflection piece on our strengths, weaknesses, and overall experiences. I have been told by both of my CIs, and I agree, that I am too hard on myself and I need to trust my knowledge more. Unfortunately, our second clinical was cut short and the third rotation is postponed, but the time I have has allowed me to study and practice techniques on family members so I can be more prepared for the third rotation. Overall, I am grateful for the experiences I have had so far, and I'm looking forward to learning more as I complete my final rotation and enter into the field.
